The Multi Plus Diamond Tester is a specialized handheld device designed to accurately distinguish between diamonds, moissanite, and other simulants.

Functionality: It primarily distinguishes natural diamonds from moissanite. It also indicates sapphires and rubies with a red light, but doesn’t differentiate between them. The device identifies simulants like cubic zirconia by showing no reaction or displaying “Simulant Indicators”. It is not designed to identify a wide range of gemstones.
Technology & Features: The tester uses advanced thermal electrical conductivity with a retractable 0.6mm probe. It has a color-coded display (blue for diamond, green for moissanite, red for sapphire/ruby) and different audible tones. A built-in LW395nm UV light helps detect fluorescence. It has an ergonomic design for comfortable use, a metal alert to prevent false readings, automatic shutoff, and a low battery warning. The probe tip is durable for consistent pressure.
Specifications: The device measures 150 x 33 x 23mm (6.81 x 1.25 x 0.91in) and weighs 80g (0.18lb) with the battery. It uses one 9V battery (not included) and has approximately 3 hours of continuous battery life. The operating temperature range is 18°C – 28°C (64°F – 82°F).
Usage: It can be used on loose and mounted stones. It requires no manual calibration, has a short warm-up time of 18 seconds, and can test multiple stones consecutively. The tester comes with a user manual, carrying case, and metal stone holder. According to Cooksongold, it can test stones as small as 2 points.
Important Considerations: This tester is specifically for differentiating between natural diamonds and moissanite. Using it for other stone types may result in inaccurate readings. Misuse can also lead to inaccurate results.
